Help Us Modernise the Operating Theatres at Bethesda Children's Hospital

Successful treatment depends not only on outstanding doctors and nurses but also on modern medical equipment that ensures the safety of every child during surgery.

Today, we are asking for your support to help fund one of the Bethesda Children's Hospital's most urgent priorities: the purchase of a new surgical electrosurgical (electrocoagulation) unit.

An electrosurgical unit is an essential piece of equipment used in virtually every surgical procedure. It enables surgeons to control bleeding quickly and safely, which is critical for performing safe and effective operations. The hospital's three operating theatres are currently equipped with devices that have served patients reliably for many years. However, these units have now become technologically outdated, are increasingly difficult to maintain, and their long-term servicing can no longer be guaranteed.

For the hospital, replacing the electrosurgical unit in the surgical operating theatre is now the highest priority. This investment is much more than simply replacing an ageing device—it will help ensure that children continue to receive surgical care under the safest possible conditions.

The total cost of the new equipment is substantial, which is why Bethesda Children's Hospital needs the support of donors and partners. A new electrosurgical unit costs nearly HUF 6 million, and raising this amount would represent a major step towards completing this vital project.

While the hospital has many important development goals, replacing the operating theatre's electrosurgical unit is currently the most urgent. This device is used every day to support the treatment and recovery of children, meaning that every donation directly contributes to making paediatric surgeries even safer.
